One Shreveport Neighborhood Makes List of High Vacancy Rates
A Shreveport neighborhood makes a list we don't want to be on. Watchdog.org is out with a list of areas with high vacancy rates.
The website says the number of vacant homes in the 71101 zip code area was 290 in the third quarter of 2018. That's a two-unit decrease over what it was a year ago, according to real estate numbers reported by ATTOM Data Solutions.
Here's the area we're talking about:
It includes the downtown area, Allendale, Lakeside and a part of Queensborough. This area has the 44th highest home vacancy rate among the thousands of U.S. zip codes with 1,000 or more single-family homes and condos in the analysis. The rate stood at 15.18 percent in the third quarter, up from 14 percent in the third quarter of 2017.
Nationwide, the home vacancy rate was 1.52 percent in the third quarter, representing more than 1.4 million housing units. That’s a 4 percent decrease over what it was a year earlier as activity in the nation’s housing market continued to intensify, according to ATTOM Data.
The 71103 zip code also made this list. This includes Werner Park, Lakeside Heights and Ingleside.
