Shreveport police responded to a welfare concern and now one person is dead after a shootout with police. Louisiana State Police are now investigating this officer involved shooting. It happened at about 1:30 in the afternoon in the 7200 block of Old River Road.

The two officers who first showed up found a man at the scene and some shots were fired. The man who has been identified as 60-year-old Robert Diamond was hit and rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. He was later pronounced dead. No officers were wounded during this incident.

The Shreveport Police Department requested Louisiana State Police to investigate this officer-involved shooting. LSP Investigators are working to process this crime scene and gather information about the incident.

The Caddo Parish Coroner's office says Diamond's death marks the 30th homicide in Shreveport and Caddo Parish so far this year.
