New Louisiana Restaurant Opens in Downtown Shreveport
It's exciting to see all the things happening right now in Shreveport-Bossier. There's a new development happening in Bossier on the river near the Boardwalk. The city of Shreveport is in talks with REV Entertainment to bring baseball, (and more) back to Shreveport.
And there's growth and excitement in downtown with the development of the new Caddo Common Park.
Caddo Common Park, or “The Common” for short, is a 1+ acre creative greenspace located at the center of Shreveport Common at 869 Texas Avenue. The location and design of the park were informed by a nationally-awarded creative placemaking community vision plan process to revitalize a 9-block historic yet long-blighted area between the downtown business district and the eastern edge of Shreveport’s oldest neighborhood, Ledbetter/HUD Choice Neighborhoods. Today, through a large and tenacious public/private effort, nine parcels of broken concrete slabs, weeds and razor wire have been transformed into an active urban greenspace with tree-lined walking trails, an iconic outdoor Performance Pavilion, an Art Bosque Food Truck Court with 20’ tall solar and LED lit Artistrees, and a Bioswale.
And the Downtown Development Authority just announced a new cajun seafood restaurant opening in downtown. Trap Krabz recently opened quietly a week ago, and is now ready to serve you everyday except Sunday and Wednesday. From the DDA:
Owner Jewel Johnson tells us that his initial menu may change based on the taste and needs of his downtown diners, but for now, it is heavy on seafood (including crab legs) and BBQ. He says he has a Catfish Couvillon that is to die for, and says Etouffee and gumbo are coming! If you are not a seafood lover, Jewel has a big ol’ Angus burger and fries for $13 or a BBQ plate with potato salad and baked beans for $15. 601 Texas is at the intersection of Texas and McNeill Streets, just across from the Caddo Parish Courthouse.
