A new law takes effect Monday that will apply to all Louisiana employers. Starting August 15th, all Louisiana employers will be expected to comply with a new state law that builds upon an existing law. Employers are already required to confirm that their workers are lawfully entitled to live or work in the U-S. The new law specifies two ways to satisfy that requirement -- documentation or use of the federal E-Verify system. Also starting Monday employees will be able to use the E-Verify site to check on their own employment eligibility status.
