National Night Out is taking place next Tuesday in both Bossier and Caddo Parishes.  In Bossier and Caddo the Night Out will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Residents in neighborhoods throughout Bossier City and Shreveport are asked to turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors and police.

Persons planning a Bossier City Night Out event that requires the closure of a city street - such as a block party - must submit  the proper paperwork by  October 2, 2014 so that block party visits from police and fire personnel may be scheduled efficiently. Bossier City Night Out registration forms are available for pick up at the following locations:

  • The BCPD lobby at620 Benton Road.
  • TheBossier CityPublic Safety Training Complex at5850 Shed Road.

Forms may be downloaded as a fillable PDF file from the City of Bossier Citywebsite at www.bossiercity.org or from the Bossier City Police Department website at www.bossierpolice.com. Residents can also have forms emailed to them by calling 741-8662.

Applications for citizens of unincorporated areas of Caddo Parish to close their streets for National Night Out block parties are now available from the Caddo Sheriff's Office, said Sheriff Steve Prator.The applications are available at the sheriff's north substation in Oil City, south substation at 9956 Mansfield Road, or online at caddosheriff.org. They must be completed and returned to either substation no later than October 3. National Night Out is designed to:

  1. promote crime and drug prevention awareness;
  2. strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnership
  3. send a strong message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.
