UPDATE: Murder Suspect Caught After Standoff on Penick Street
UPDATE: A murder suspect is caught after lengthy standoff on Penick Street. Police were called to a home on Penick Street where 34- year-old Dewayne Willie Watkins was barricaded inside. Watkins and police engaged in a standoff for nearly six hours. Eventually officers arrested Watkins on two counts of second degree murder in the deaths of a couple whose bodies were found in a burning car on Penick Street Thursday night.
Bond for Watkins has been set at $1,000,000.00.

Shreveport Police are on the scene on Penick Street where a man is barricaded inside a home.
More than 35 units are at that location in the 3400 block of Penick Street. KEEL News has gotten unconfirmed reports that officers believe a double murder suspect is the man inside this home.
A local couple was found murdered inside a burning car on Thursday night. They had apparently tried to help a man by giving him a ride from Mall St. Vincent Thursday night. The suspect robbed the couple and murdered them before setting the car on fire outside a home on Penick Street.
Police Corporal Marcus Hines says the man inside the home has been trying to escape through the floor of the residence but the home is surrounded by officers from several different agencies.
The man is being referred to as “Dewayne” on announcements to him, but his last name has not been released.
