The newest incarnation of the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team has something in common with that team that dominated the ArkLaTex sports scene for fourteen years: Winning. And these newer, younger Mudbugs begin their championship march Friday and Saturday nights when they host the Corpus Christi Ice Rays in games 1 and 2 of their best of five division semi-final series.

The Bugs wrapped up their first season in the North American Hockey League's South Division with a 35-19-3-3 record and a second place finish. The Rays finished in the third spot with a 32-19-4-5 mark. The winner of this series takes on the victor of Lone Star - Wichita Falls in the division final, also a best of five.

The four division champs will then had for Duluth, Minnesota and the NAHL Robertson Cup Championships, taking place May 11 - 14.
