More public boat ramps on the Red River are closing today.Last week, the Red River Waterway Commission temporarily closed the public boat ramps in Caddo and Bossier Parishes. Now that the crest is moving downstream, the commission is starting to close the public ramps in Red River, Natchitoches, Winn, Grant, Rapides, and Avoyelles Parishes. The commission stresses that the Red River is not closed to boat traffic but urges boaters who do venture out on the river from private marinas to exercise caution and watch for swift currents and floating debris. Here in Shreveport/Bossier, the level of the Red is dropping and never got near the 30-foot flood stage. At 7 o'clock this morning, the river was at 23-point-4 feet in Shreveport and falling ever so slowly.
