This Alligator is Proof That Cross Lake Has Some Monsters Lurking in the Water.

If you thought that mammoth gators were only living in swamps in South Louisiana, think again.

Every year we see several proud gator hunters show off their harvest and it's a rare sight because it's not so simple to get approved to hunt an alligator in Louisiana. "Applying for the tags is the easy part getting Chosen is the hard part," said Kywan Housley.

In case you wondering about an alligator tag, it really is a luck of the draw. The Lottery Alligator Harvest is provided by the LDWF. They give 600 licensed resident alligator hunters the opportunity to harvest over 1,900 alligators on 50 wildlife management areas and public lakes throughout the state. Several hunters apply only 600 in the entire state are chosen.

At First, Housley Had No Idea This Gator Was Such a Giant.

"We started pulling it in the boat it kinda just kept coming and when we got it on the floor of my boat we realized how big it was as the excitement kicked in even more," said Housley.

This Cross Lake Monster Will Haunt My Dreams.

Most of the time we end up on Cross Lake on a boat we park the boat and hang out. I think I am going to skip out on that next time. There could be a 12.5-foot gator hanging out nearby.
