Mississippi State Wins College World Series
The SEC gets the title in the College World Series. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are the 2021 champs.
Mississippi State beat the Vanderbilt Commodores in a blowout. The 9-0 win gives Mississippi State its first ever team sport national title.
The Bulldogs have been no stranger to Omaha. Mississippi State has been to the College World Series a dozen times and now they go home with the trophy and the national title.
Bulldog pitchers Will Bednar and Landon Sims led the charge this season. These two aces combined to throw a one-hitter against the Commodores.
The CWS Most Outstanding Player trophy goes to Bednar.
The bats for the Bulldogs were also on fire. After a tough loss to the Commodores on Monday, State hitters ratcheted things up. They scored 22 runs in games 2 and 3 while Vanderbilt only managed 2 runs over those two games. During the Wednesday night game, Tanner Allen and Kellum Clark each blasted homers in the 7th inning to run the score to 9-0 and the defense never let up.
