On July 5, 2023, just before 5:00 p.m., an on-duty Shreveport Police Officer was flagged down by an individual that felt that his friend had been the victim of a violent crime. The individual reported that the victim, Terry Morris, had been shot and killed in a residence in the 700 block of Navaho Trail. Investigators worked through the night conducting interviews and collecting evidence that corroborated the witness’s statements.

A nationwide BOLO was issued for the vehicle. Later into the night, Shreveport Police Investigators developed information indicating that Morris’s vehicle was traveling through Sabine Parish. Sabine Parish Deputies immediately began a search and determined that the vehicle was traveling toward Texas. They alerted deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff’s Department who were able to intercept the vehicle, which then led to a pursuit. After approximately 15 minutes, deputies lost sight of the vehicle but continued their search, which eventually led to the discovery of the car abandoned on private property in the area. A deceased male was located in trunk of the vehicle. At this time, the man has not been positively identified. Texas authorities will perform an autopsy.
