Newly announced candidate for mayor Steven Jackson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his plans for the city, including fighting crime and attracting businesses and jobs.

Jackson tells KEEL listeners that for the past few months, he's been asked if he'd be seeking the mayor's office "and my response is absolutely yes." Jackson says, "We don't have another four years  to coast along. We're the capitol of the Ark-La-Tex and we have to claim our place"

The current Caddo Commissioner adds, "I have the knowledge and experience to know the things in government we need to do to fix the problems that Shreveport is facing. He goes on the say that those problems include lowering crime - which includes hiring a new chief for Shreveport's police department - and attracting businesses to our area via "an independent, certified economic development team."
