Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux remains hospitalized as he continues treatment for pneumonia. According to city officials, his doctors have prescribed a full course of intravenous antibiotics, which will require him to stay in the hospital until the treatment is completed.

When Will Shreveport Mayor Be Released from the Hospital?

Arceneaux is expected to be discharged on Monday and plans to return to work at City Hall on Tuesday. He's under close monitoring while in the hospital being treated for bacterial pneumonia.

This illness hit the Mayor hard on Tuesday while he was attending a Shreveport City Council meeting. He left the meeting early after suffering a coughing attack. He was administered to by EMS teams in the lobby of Government Plaza and rushed to Willis Knighton North.

Out of caution, his medical team recommended hospitalization to ensure he received the appropriate care and rest needed for a full recovery.

Mayor Arceneaux Says He Feels Stronger Each Day

In a statement from his hospital room, Mayor Arceneaux shared that he is feeling better with each passing day and is closely following his doctors’ advice.

“I’m doing very well and am grateful for the excellent care I’ve received,” said Mayor Arceneaux. “My doctors have instructed me to rest and to complete the full course of IV antibiotics, and I’m listening. In the meantime, I’m staying involved in city business and look forward to getting back to the office soon.”

Despite being temporarily sidelined, the Mayor has remained in contact with city staff and continues to monitor ongoing city matters. Officials say that day-to-day operations at City Hall have continued without disruption during his recovery.

Mayor Arceneaux expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of kindness and encouragement he has received from residents across Shreveport.

“I want to once again thank the people of Shreveport for the incredible outpouring of love, encouragement, and concern,” he said. “Your messages and prayers mean the world to me and remind me why it’s such a privilege to serve as your mayor.”

The Mayor’s office will provide updates if there are any changes to his condition or recovery schedule, but for now, he appears to be on track for a full return to public service.
