The incident happened early Sunday morning on Marquette Street. 33-year-old Fleen Myles III was stopped by Shreveport police in the 2700 block of Marquette Avenue around 8:45 a.m. But Myles ran from the officers to an area near Rosemont Street, where the shooting happened. Myles was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, where he died from his wounds just after 9am. Officers say Myles allegedly pulled a gun out as he was fleeing the scene.

Myles was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

His death marked the 70th homicide in Caddo Parish since the start of the year, and the 65th inside the Shreveport City limits. This numbering reflects the addition of the July 5, 2023 slaying of Terry Morris, 20, who was killed in Shreveport but was found in San Augustine County, Texas.
