A Shreveport man is behind bars after taking shots at officers. According to Shreveport Police, officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of Creswell Avenue around 10pm. When they arrived, the man they were called to investigate armed himself with a shotgun and began shooting at officers.

A short time later, the man fled the home and lead police on a foot chase around the neighborhood. Eventually, the man was captured behind a home on Olive Street and taken into custody. No officers were injured during the shooting or chase. However the man did sustain injuries at some point during his encounter with police. Cpl. Marcus Hines from SPD did not say where or how the injuries were sustained, just that the was not shot or bitten by a K-9. He was taken to University Health for treatment.

Investigators believe that the man may have been high on drugs during their encounter. Officers say he was acting extremely paranoid and was yelling loudly and incoherently at them.

An investigation into the incident is on going.
