The report says “the national average for adult excessive drinking is 19.8%, and 34 metro areas imbibe at above that rate.

What States Have the Highest Alcohol Related Driving Deaths?

This study says Alaska, Montana and North Dakota top this list. This might be because these are some of the largest states by land area. They also have the coldest weather which might have something to do with drinking.

What Louisiana City Has the Biggest Drinkers?

Houma-Thibodaux is listed as the drunkest metro area in Louisiana. 22.7% of adults say they drink excessively. The statewide rate is 21.9% which puts Louisiana as the 7th highest. 37% of driving deaths in Houma are directly related to drunk driving. That number is more than 31% in Louisiana which is #17 in the country.

What Texas City Has the Biggest Drinkers?

The drunkest metro area in the Lone Star state is Sherman-Denison. The excessive drinking rate is 21.1% while the statewide rate is 18.6% which is 25th lowest in the nation. 23.6% of driving deaths in Sherman are alcohol related while the statewide rate is 25.4% which is the 13th lowest.
