While some cities in Louisiana, like Bossier City, are seeing explosive population growth, others have been losing residents at an alarming rate. With some towns losing nearly all of their residents between the 2010 census and the 2020 census. Even if some of those reductions were due to events outside of the control of the towns.

For example, Bayou Corne. In 2010 there were more than 350 residents in the area, but after a sinkhole opened up in 2012, resident were forced to evacuate. That evacuation hasn't let up since, forcing the area's population to remain below 50 people.

Some of the other towns and villages that lost population only lost a handful, but when your village started out in 2010 with less than 20 residents, losing a handful can drop you down to very low numbers.
