The data focused on key metrics including the billionaire rate per one million people, the percentage of households with more than $1 million in the bank. They also checked out the percentage of registered vehicles considered “luxury models”. The stats also considered the average price of a luxury home.

This study also checked out google searches for luxury items like Ferraris for sale, or Rolex watches.

What State Has the Most Residents Living a Luxury Lifestyle?

This is no surprise. New York tops the list while California checks in at #2. Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Florida also land in the top five.

What States Are in the Bottom of the Luxury List?

Alaska is last on the list with no billionaires in the icy state. West Virginia, Mississippi, Arkansas, and South Dakota also land at the bottom of this list.

How Does Louisiana Stack up on the Luxury Front?

The data shows Louisiana has:

Share of Millionaire Households 5.21

% Share of Luxury Cars 15.30

Luxury Home Price $333,978

Available Luxury Homes on Zillow 7,930

Searches for Luxury Items 494.87

Composite Score 20.45

Only Mississippi and West Virginia have lower prices for the average luxury home.

Nevada, Rhode Island, Montana, Missouri, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Nebraska, North Dakota and  South Dakota have fewer millionaires than Louisiana.

Louisiana has way more luxury cars than a host of other states.

Montana, Utah, Minnesota, Michigan, Alabama, Wyoming, Vermont, Maine, Idaho, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kentucky, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Arkansas, Mississippi, West Virginia and Alaska residents are driving more non luxury cars than the folks in the Bayou State.

This means we have some of the cheapest housing in the nation, but we still like to drive around in pricey cars.
