Just in time for Thanksgiving, Louisiana could experience the first solid cold front of the season. Forecasters are keeping their eye on a system that could bring massive snow storms to parts of the country (not Louisiana) and cold temps to the south.

Now before we get too excited about a cool down, we should point out that this forecast is a "future" forecast, and is based on models. These are expectations of what could happen, and things could definitely change. For the basic idea, forecaster Ryan Hall breaks down how this system could drop major snowfall on multiple states, before impacting Louisiana and Texas...

The timing of this system is up in the air too. It might arrive well before Thanksgiving, it also might bring the cold temps just as we're putting turkeys into ovens and grease. But whenever the first cool down arrives, there is expected to be a second behind it.

Some forecasters are looking at a double dip of cold fronts pushing through Louisiana. So if the first cold front arrives before Thanksgiving, there could be another lined up for the holiday.

Neither of these forecasts are expecting winter weather for Shreveport, or any of Louisiana. But we are looking at colder temperatures, especially in the overnight hours. We could see freeze warnings, or something similar. However, we do have to say again that these are future forecasts, and could change a lot between now and when the fronts arrive (if they do).
