SHREVEPORT, LA – Some of my fondest childhood memories go back to the State Fair of Louisiana. My visits were to the event in Baton Rouge. But that fair was very similar to the event that is held every year right here in Shreveport.

My memory of the fair is about my Dad. I am sure several of my brothers were always with us. But all I remember is the time with Dad. He would jump on any ride we wanted to go on. He loved the Tilt-O-Whirl. He would usually sit in the middle and we would all try to be near him. He would hoot and holler as we would slide on the seat while we were spinning. He also was infamous for trying to make the car spin faster. He loved those thrill rides. I can see his smile while thinking back on these great days.

That’s what the State Fair means to me and it can be that for your family too. It’s one of those places where you can make lasting memories. I really don’t remember too much about the food. We might grab a corndog and some cotton candy back in my childhood days. The food at the fair has certainly changed a bunch. You have all kinds of options these days.
