Area students will head back to the classrooms in early August to kick off a new school year. That means parents will be out in droves gathering up school supplies.

The perfect time to do that shopping is August 2nd and 3rd, during the 2013 Louisiana Sales Tax Holiday. The first $2,500 of the purchase price of most individual items will be exempt from state sales tax.

If you want to see what items are not exempt, or get more information, visit the State Revenue Department's website.

The Sales Tax Holiday comes just days ahead of DeSoto Parish students' first day back, which is August 5th. Bossier Parish starts on the 8th, and Caddo and Webster, the 12th.
