A man has been convicted of rape and sentenced to two life terms-plus for sex crimes involving juveniles.

Gentry Elvridge Vinson of Baton Rouge, 52, received two life sentences Monday, June 28, 2021 from District Judge John D. Mosely Jr. Each sentence is to be served at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

The sentences stem from crimes committed back on May 7th, 2021. The charges were aggravated rape on 2 counts involving two juvenile girls committed in 1997 and 1999. The girls are reported to be relatives to Vinson, and were under the age of 12 at the time of the crimes.

He also was sentenced to an additional 50 years at hard labor for three additional sex-crime convictions, with 30 to be served without the possibility of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.

The other charges were aggravated incest and two counts of molestation of a juvenile, a continuum from acts committed from 2000 to 2003 on one of the victims. The victim endured sexual abuse from Vinson until she was 19.

Vinson was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Mekisha Smith Creal and Senae D. Hall. He was defended by Mary Harried and Alison Melton.
