Louisiana Ranks Among America’s Luckiest States for Powerball Wins
When it comes to Powerball jackpots, Louisiana might just be one of the luckiest places in America. Recent data shows the state ranks 6th in the nation with 17 Powerball jackpot winners, accounting for 4% of all Powerball wins in the U.S.
Louisiana’s Winning Streak
While Powerball odds are notoriously tough, just 1 in 292,201,338, Louisiana has still managed to produce its fair share of millionaires. With 17 jackpot winners to date, the state ties with California and Florida, both of which also claim 4% of the total jackpots ever awarded.
That means Louisiana players have defied astronomical odds time and again, joining an elite group of winners across the country.
America’s Powerball Powerhouses

Powerball: The World’s Toughest Jackpot
Globally, the U.S. Powerball ranks as the hardest lottery in the world to win. Betsson’s study compared odds across multiple nations, finding that no other lottery comes close. Germany’s “Lotto 6 aus 49” and Spain’s “La Primitiva” tie for second with odds of 1 in 139,838,160, while Italy’s “SuperEnalotto” stands at 1 in 103,769,105.
Despite the long odds, Louisiana’s consistent luck puts it firmly in the top 10 for Powerball success, proof that someone, somewhere in the Bayou State might just hold the next winning ticket.
