Louisiana Police Accuse Jealous Man of Chaining Fiancé Like a Dog
A harrowing escape by a desperate woman in Leesville, Louisiana last week has led authorities to arrest her alleged captor. The twist here is, that according to a report from KKTV, the man accused of holding her against her will is her boyfriend.
Reportedly, Vernon Parish Sheriff's Deputies were called out to deal with a disturbance between 2 men in Leesville around 5:45 pm on Wednesday. When officers arrived on the scene, they allegedly encountered 30-year-old Robert Allen McCrary having a heated argument with his father over McCrary's suspicion that his current girlfriend was cheating on him. Deputies were reportedly able to calm the men down, and they considered the situation handled.
On the way back to file the report, Vernon Parish dispatchers informed the officers that a woman had been brought to the Sheriff's Office claiming that she had a connection to the men and the argument they had just investigated. According the report from KLPC, the unnamed woman had just flagged down a driver (who just happened to be an off-duty deputy) on the side of the road. That woman's hands were reportedly chained and padlocked together.
Because she was restrained and had obvious injuries to her face, she was taken directly to the Sheriff's Office where she told authorities that she had been held against her will by her fiancé, Robert McCrary (the man they were just talking to). She claims that McCrary constantly accuses her of being unfaithful, and to "make sure," he restrained her by padlocking an 8 1/2 foot chain around each of the woman’s wrists attached to a laundry line stretched across the bedroom they shared so that she could not leave for 3 days.
The unnamed woman also told authorities that she was only allowed to leave when McCrary took her outside "for a walk." She claims that he would leave her restraints on and lead her around the yard by the chain. According to the report, she said that McCrary would "examine" her and claim that he could smell another man on her. She also reported that McCrary struck her in the face so hard, she fell and hit her head on the air conditioner in their home.
After hearing the details of the alleged crime, Vernon Parish Sheriff's Deputies returned to the home and questioned Robert McCrary about the woman's claims. McCrary reportedly told investigators that restraining his fiancé was her idea. He was placed under arrest and is currently being held on one count each of false imprisonment and domestic abuse battery.
