Louisiana GOP Chairman's Statement on McAllister Retirement

Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere has issued a statement regarding reports that Representative Vance McAllister would not seek re-election.

“While I would have liked to see Rep. McAllister close this chapter sooner, I was happy to hear of his decision to do what is best for his family and his constituents," said Villere. "Now that this situation is behind us, I am confident that voters in the 5th District will choose a strong conservative candidate in November."

McAllister has been under fire since video surfaced of him caught in a cheating scandal.
