Gasoline prices have been descending into the sub-$3 territory, but that might be ending soon.

Last week, Louisiana had some of the lowest gas prices in the nation, with some outlets selling for as little as $2.59, according to AAA.  AAA fuel analyst Don Redman said the statewide average price is on the way back up.
"This is a response to the effect of seeing price of wholesale gas jump 16 cents in the past week and a half."

The statewide average price for regular gas is $3.01, up from $2.99 last week.  Shreveport-Bossier's average price is also $3.01.  The cheapest price found in the state by GasBuddy.com was $2.62 at a Costco in New Orleans.

"Some of it is in anticipation of next week being the Thanksgiving holiday travel season and I think that's going to have an impact on the price."

Redman expects another decrease between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He guesstimates average prices to drop as low as $2.85.
