Louisiana has made great strides in education. Our ranking for students has climbed from near the bottom of the pack to #32 over the past few years. This improvement is the result of a “back to basics” approach.

Louisiana does score better than half the field on teacher pay ranking 19th in the nation. But Louisiana scores low on things like safety and environment, education and school stats and student performance. I can’t help but believe these rankings don’t take into account the recent improvements in student performance and I bet when the new rankings come out, Louisiana will show up much higher on this list.
Louisiana scores just above 37 overall in this ranking compared to the top performing states with scores in the 60+ range.
