A twin engine plane carrying rescue dogs from Louisiana crashed in Wisconsin.
Investigators are on the scene of the crash on a snowy golf course in southeast Wisconsin.

3 people onboard the plane suffered non life threatening injuries.
Some of the 53 rescue dogs from New Orleans were also slightly hurt in the crash.
Workings from the Humane Society jumped into action to get the dogs treated and moved to a safe location.

Once all of the pups are medically cleared, they will be put up for adoption.

The Waukesha Sheriff’s Department and the Human Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), the plane — which had 3 passengers and 53 rescue dogs onboard — crash landed near the third hole on the Western Lakes Golf Course near Pewaukee, about 17 miles west of Milwaukee.

The plane was heavily damaged after hitting several trees that clipped the wings off the plane.
Haz mat crews were called to the scene because about 300 gallons of fuel were spilled during this crash.

The 50-plus pups on the plane were being transported from the New Orleans area. They are all considered at-risk dogs who are now looking for permanent homes. Several partner shelters in the Wisconsin area were teaming up to try to save these dogs.

HAWS is asking for help to fund the medical expenses and support of these pups. You can click here to check out the wish list of supplies needed to help care for and transport the dogs.

No information has been released about the cause of this crash, but the NTSB is on the scene gathering all of the data.

One of the things I can't get over? Despite how much these dogs have been through, you can still see how hopeful they seem. They just need to find loving homes.
