Louisiana Players Still Alive in the College Playoffs

2 Shreveport football players are still in the hunt for a national college football title. I really can not believe the college football season is over for most teams. But we now move into the playoffs for 12 teams. There are also several Louisiana players still in the running to win a national championship.

The 2 players from Shreveport still fighting for the top trophy. Macho Stevenson plays for Texas Tech. The cornerback played high school ball at Captain Shreve.

Devin Harper is an offensive lineman for Ole Miss. The freshman played his high school career at Calvary Baptist Academy.

Louisiana School Makes Playoffs

We now know Tulane has made it to the big dance. The Green Wave finish the season at 11-2 and win the American Conference title. They have earned one of the playoff births assigned to conference champs with the best record.

More than 30 players on the Tulane roster are from Louisiana and it’s great to have a team from the Bayou State competing for a national title. But the chances of Tulane winning it all are pretty slim.

Who Has the Best Chance to Win the National Title

If you don’t plan to cheer for Tulane, who do you support? Ohio State is the defending champ and they look tough to beat this year. But they stumbled in their conference championship game, losing to Indiana. Texas Tech is considered to be one of the teams with a good chance to win. Georgia is also considered a favorite.

There are lots of Louisiana players scattered about on the rosters of many of the teams in the running for a national title. 3 of the teams have no Louisiana players on the rosters. Those are Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon.

What Team Has Most Louisiana Players

Aside from Tulane, there are 9 Louisiana players on the Ole Miss roster and 5 Bayou State players suiting up for the Miami Hurricanes who made it to the big party.

Where and When Are the Playoff Games

The first-round games will kick off on December 19 and 20. These games will be at the higher seeds home field.

Here Are the Matchups:

James Madison travels to Oregon.

Alabama is on the road at SEC rival Oklahoma.

Tulane will have a rematch at Ole Miss, a team the Green Wave lost to 45-10.

Miami will visit Texas A&M.

The winners will then move to the quarterfinal matchups on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at four bowl-game venues: Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington, Texas, and the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, and Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Winners will move on to semifinals — the Fiesta Bowl on January 8 and the Peach Bowl on January 9.

When Is the National Championship Game

The big game will take place on Monday, January 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m..

What Are the Top Teams in the Playoffs

The top four seeds get a bye in the first round. Those teams are the Indiana Hoosiers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Georgia Bulldogs and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
