If you were on social media at all on Wednesday, you saw lots of folks from Shreveport and Bossier City talking about the loud booms they heard. People even described it being so strong, their house shook.

KEEL News has learned these loud explosions were drills going on at Barksdale Air Force Base.

These explosions shook the walls around south Bossier. Even some Shreveport residents could feel the rocking. The explosions began at about 10:30 Wednesday morning as the 2nd Civil Engineers Squadron’s explosive ordnance team conducted training exercises. But we did not get any advance warning of the Wednesday activity.

But we have learned, these crews will be doing the same thing today.

The explosions on Wednesday were heard and felt as far away as Benton, Haughton and into north Bossier City. Shreveport residents along Youree Drive and the Broadmoor area also felt the loud booms.

Captain Hunter Reineger with Barksdale Public Affairs told Bossier Now “the loud noise you are referring to did come from Barksdale AFB as our Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was conducting training.”

Barksdale AFB say crews will be conducting more exercises today. This training will be happening until about 2pm on Friday April 14th.
