Local Transplant Candidate Gets Some Community Help

Blanchard resident Robert Gipson has been battling diabetes for many years...and now, he needs a kidney transplant. But those -- and the care he'll need afterward -- are expensive. Jayne Tappe is helping arrange some fundraisers for him, and she says there's something organizers need...donations of big-ticket items that can be auctioned off at the Poke Salad Festival, going on in Blanchard next month. She also says more volunteers are needed to help get these events together. Several area restaurants are pitching in to generate funds for Robert, and there's a bake sale coming up later this month.
