Two local American Red Cross volunteers have headed east to assist with tornado recovery efforts in Mississippi.

Lisamarie Griffin of Bossier City left the Northwest Louisiana Chapter office at 10 o'clock this morning.  Along the way, she stopped in Ruston to pick up Hubert Tolman of Dubach. In Monroe, they picked up the Northeast Louisiana Chapter's Emergency Response Vehicle and then it was off to Jackson.  From there, they'll be deployed to various locations around Mississippi.

Griffin and Tolman are both experienced disaster volunteers.  Both deployed during Superstorm Sandy.  Griffin's most recent deployment was to Hattiesburg, MS, last year to assist with tornado recovery there.  Though both are experienced volunteers, this is Tolman's first ERV assignment.

The local Red Cross office says other volunteers may be sent to other areas affected by this storm system if needed.
