Latest Shreveport Crime Stats Show Positive News

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith recently presented a crime statitics report to the city council each detailing specific stats and trends, such as murders, shootings, rapes, vehicle thefts, etc.
Chief Smith presents the stats to keep city officials informed on the latest information regarding crime, and the recent reports indicate some positive news for the city.
“Homicides, for instance, we’re around 37-38 or so for this year. And last year this time, we were around the 50 mark, so there is a sharp decline but nonetheless if there is one injury, that’s one too many,” Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith said.
Chief Smith told the council he's proud of the men and women of the police department and the hard work his department puts in.
“To all the men and women of the Shreveport Police Department, thank you so much. I am so very proud of your hard work and the efforts that you put into making our city greater and a safer city. And to our partnering agencies, I extend those same words of gratitude to you too. Thank you so much for caring about our community. And to our community itself, thank you so very much for all that you do to make our community safe and to help us keep our community safe.”
