SHREVEPORT, LA - Economic growth is expected across northwest Louisiana over the next 2 years. Economist Dr. Loren Scott is projecting the area will add close to 5,000 jobs over that time period.

There are several big economic development projects brewing.
SLB announced last year the creation of 596 jobs and they have already surpassed that number. They are operating at the old General Motors Plant in west Shreveport.
Prolec GE announced last year the creation of 153 new jobs and they have surpassed that number by creating 200+ new jobs. The company now has a local manufacturing workforce of close to 600 total jobs.
The Amazon Fulfillment Center has hired more than 1300 workers. The original plan was to hire 1,000. So that number is up by 30%. And the starting pay at Amazon is closing in on $19 dollars an hour.
Fibrebond in Webster Parish has announced expansions in the past few years. The company is investing $100 million in the local community.
There is some concern about the casino numbers dipping in our area as the competition from Oklahoma tribal casinos continue to draw from the lucrative Dallas metro area. But the Live Casino currently under construction in Bossier City is expected to attract more gamblers to the local market. It is yet to be determined if they will continue to come once the new casino opens.
Barksdale is also showing growth and continues to be the largest employer in the region. The medical field is also one of our top employers.
