Lafayette Boater’s Body Found Near Butte La Rose

The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has confirmed it has found the body of a missing boater near the Butte la Rose boat launch.

LDWF agents say Robert Schoeffler went under the water after two boats collided about two miles away from the boat launch on April 29. Schoeffler and another man were thrown from their boat. The other man swam back to the boat. Agents say neither Schoeffler nor the other man was wearing a flotation device.

The case remains under investigation.
