With the COVID-19 positivity rate dropping below 5% for the second week in a row, Lafayette Parish can begin serving alcohol to customers indoors starting on Thursday, February 25, 2021.

Check out the report from @theadvertiser on Twitter below.

According to the above report, the last two weeks of data show a COVID-19 positivity rate in Lafayette Parish of 4.5% and 3.8%, respectively. Per Governor Edwards' COVID-19 order, any parish in the state that had a positivity rate over 5% would be required to halt indoor consumption of alcohol at bars.

That is where Louisiana has been for the past few months, above the 5% positivity rate. Now, bars in the parish will once again be able to serve their customers alcohol inside.

According to The Advertiser, Lafayette Parish, along with St. Landry, St. Mary, and Acadia, will be, or are currently, the eligible parishes in the state for indoor alcohol consumption at bars.

Under the order from Governor Edwards, parishes that opt-in to allowing their bars to re-open for indoor alcohol consumption will also be required to have these establishments close at 11PM every night that they are open. They are also limited to allowing only 25% of the business' normal capacity in or 50 patrons, whichever is less.

Of course, if the COVID-19 positivity rate rises above the 5% threshold for two consecutive weeks in the parish, bars will be forced to close their doors to indoor alcohol consumption until rates fall again.
