According to numerous sources, at least 10 American tourists have gotten "sick" and died this year and dozens more have become extremely sick after visiting resorts in the Dominican Republic.  WWL reports that the latest fatality is Luling, Louisiana resident Susan Simoneaux.

Susan was there with her new husband, Keith Williams, on her honeymoon when she fell gravely ill.  The couple had been together for ten years, and had just gotten married last month.  Less than a week after their return, Simoneaux lungs started to fill up with fluid.  She was rushed to the nearest hospital, where she died last week.  An autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause of death.

Dominican officials claim that they have found no connection between the deaths and illnesses.  Fortunately, the FBI is now "assisting" the Dominican authorities complete toxicology reports and assist with the investigation.  Hopefully we will have answers soon, in the meantime - I suggest reconsidering any travel plans that include danger island.
