On Thursday, October 5, 2023, the United States Attorney’s Office announced that Leroy Shintell McKinney, 38, a resident of Shreveport, was sentenced to federal prison.

McKinney was found guilty of Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 grams or more of Methamphetamine. As a result, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

On November 16, 2022, Investigators from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) arrested McKinney at a residence on N. Southland Park Drive while executing a federal search warrant for narcotics.  During the search, Investigators recovered approximately six ounces of methamphetamines and a large amount of contraband.

The investigation into McKinney's narcotics activities spanned nearly two years and involved various locations in Shreveport. Throughout the course of the investigation, a total of nearly 13 ounces of pure methamphetamine was seized from McKinney. This case was a combined effort by members of the Louisiana State Police, DEA, Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, and the United States Postal Service.

The public plays a vital role in identifying suspects and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity.
