Shreveport City Councilman John Nickelson talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the council's 6 - 1 vote on Tuesday, defeating Mayor Adrian Perkins proposed $18 monthly garbage fee.

Nickelson tells KEEL listeners why the council voted on the mayor's fee, when it was expected that they would spend the meeting debating and amending the legislation, then most likely rolling the actual vote over to another meeting later this month. He also details his reasons for voting against the $18 fee, but also explains why he thinks that a fee of some amount - most likely between $7 and $13 - will pass, then underlines the importance of allocating that money to an enterprise fund.
