
Joann Fabric Closing 5 Louisiana Stores Amid Bankruptcy
SHREVEPORT, LA – Another big retail chain is set to close hundreds of stores the country including several in Louisiana.
Joann Fabric and Craft is shutting down as many as 500 stores, including five in Louisiana, as part of the ongoing Chapter 11 process. If this plan is approved, Joann would have only 2 stores left in Louisiana.

Joann Executives Issued This Statement:
This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our Team Members, our customers and all of the communities we serve. A careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the Company determined which stores should remain operating as usual at this time. Right-sizing our store footprint is a critical part of our efforts to ensure the best path forward for JOANN.
Joann stores in 40 states will be shutting down. Joann stores have been a leader in sewing and fabrics supplies. The company is planning to keep about 300 stores open, for now.

Stores in Baton Rouge and Lafayette are expected to stay open for now.
Joann is working with the court to get the final approval for the store closing plan which is based on “careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit” for the company.
