A Japanese company with an eye on the old General Motors plant in west Shreveport won't be moving into the facility.

The Board of Directors of the company voted down the proposal.

Caddo Parish Commissioner John Escude tells The Shreveport Times the deal is off the table.

"The company decided that consolidating its U.S. operations and moving to Caddo Parish would be too disruptive to their business," said Escude.

Reports indicate this move could have generated 4,000 jobs in the local market.

KEEL news will be talking to Parish Administrator Dr. Woody Wilson about this decision at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, May 1.
