Bumper Stickers Can Make You An Easy Target For Criminals

Are you a musician that has a Fender bumper sticker on your vehicle? Are you an ATV enthusiast that has stickers of 4-wheelers on your truck?

If you answered yes, then you've potentially tipped off criminals to where they can find some nice, expensive toys to steal.

If you have stickers on your vehicle, think about what information you could be unknowingly providing to criminals.

From KNOE.com -

"Police say displaying your child’s extracurricular activities and achievements could let them know that you aren’t home most evenings or weekends and also where your child attends school.

They say “Baby on Board” stickers make you an easy target for criminals, letting them know you’ll be distracted when you get to your destination."

Stickers like the one above can tip criminals off to the possibility that someone's significant other serves in the military and that only one spouse is occupying the home, making the possibility of an empty house that much greater.

Same goes for bumper stickers about the oil field.

Detective Sergeant Michael Mangina tells Yahoo "You know the little family decals that [are] on the windows, yeah that's not a good idea either. Because once again, it's telling strangers what your home life is like."

Bumper stickers that display what sports your children play are a bad idea as well. This basically tells people that you're super busy with extra curricular activities most evenings and weekends, leaving your home empty and making it a potential target for a break-in.

Police also advise against personalized license plates. A personalized license plate is easy for people to memorize and track your vehicle if you unintentionally offend someone while driving.
