We love seeing locals succeed at the highest levels. Whether it be a singer performing on the voice or a local athlete playing in the pros, we love supporting the stars in our community.

Robert Williams III is a North Caddo grad and currently plays for the Portland Trailblazers. Back in 2016, he was one of the Top 100 players in the nation and was the top prospect in Louisiana. Williams was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2018. While he initially struggled in the NBA, he started to find his stride in the pros becoming a defensive powerhouse - making the NBA All Defensive Team in 2022.

The Celtics traded him to the Portland Trailblazers during the offseason and a lot of people thought he'd have more playing time and room to develop. Sadly though, 6 games into the season, he suffered a grisly knee injury that's expected to keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

According to a report from ESPN, he suffered damage to the kneecap and ligaments during Sunday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. However, he is expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2024-25 season.

Sadly, the 26-year-old Williams has had his issues with injuries in the past. He's been limited to just 209 of 390 possible regular season games in his first five years in the NBA. He only made it through 6 games of the 2023 season.

We hope Williams has a speedy recovery and comes back with a vengeance in 2024.
