Shreveport Man Arrested for 2nd Degree Murder
SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police charge man in city’s latest homicide
Investigators with the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes unit have charged Keelon Nelson (12-12-1979) with murder following the shooting death of a 43-year-old man in east Shreveport.
On April 16, 2024, just before 7:00 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Kemper Street. On arrival officers located the victim, suffering from a gunshot injury. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officers detained a witness, Keelon Nelson, who claimed that the victim shot himself. Detectives and CSIU were called to the scene and following their assessment of the scene and the initial evidence and statements taken during interviews, they developed information that led them to believe that Nelson was responsible for the murder. He was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of Second-Degree Murder.
Detectives continue to comb through evidence and no further information will be released at this time.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
