It All Started in August of 1998 When a Woman Named “DeAnna Wray” Placed an Ad in Louisiana newspapers.

According to BayouJustice.com , the personal ad described “DeAnna Wray” as a green-eyed blonde honest and hard-working woman. This personal ad caught the attention of a sad, lonely, and widowed retired truck driver. Charlie Barker had received a large insurance settlement after his wife was killed by a drunk driver.

Charlie Barker's Sad Story Was Exactly What "DeAnna Wray" Was Looking For.

"DeAnna Wray" was just another alias for the cold-hearted woman that is Hazel Head. Head found out that Barker kept most of the insurance settlement in a safe and she quickly moved in with lonely Barker. Barker's daughters were concerned that "DeAnna Wray" was a gold digger and waiting for their father to pass away to collect all his money. Unfortunately for Barker's daughters, they were correct. However, Head didn't wait for Barker to pass away of old age, she killed him.

On September 2, 1998, Barkers Sister Went to See Him in Person After Several Unanswered Phone Calls.

It was then that Barkers lifeless body was found slumped over in the kitchen. According to the Bossier Parish coroner, Charlie Barker had been dead for five days, what killed him? A gunshot wound to the back of his head. The worst part was that the murder weapon used was Charlie Barkers own .25 caliber handgun. The gun was wiped clean of fingerprints.

Barkers' Lincoln Town Car and his live-in girlfriend had also disappeared. A day later the Bossier Police Department found the missing vehicle at the Shreveport Regional Airport. The Bossier CSI found physical DNA evidence proving that “DeAnna” was in the car at some point, well not "DeAnna", it was the con artist Hazel Head.
