Bossier/Haughton: US 80 Transformation Continues
Sure the traffic has been terrible, but US 80 in the Bossier City-Haughton area, is pretty used to that. Especially in peak travel times.

But the traffic due to the ongoing construction project, is proving to be well worth it! The crews are a sight for sore behinds...as the newly refurbished roadway is incredible!
In the five mile section that DOTD has dealt with, there are no "speed bumps", potholes or buckled sections. It's as smooth as silk!
However, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development isn't done. In the latest update on this project, DOTD is touting that the contractor has completed laying all layers of the new asphalt on both the eastbound and westbound travel lanes, which stretch from the Flat River near Bossier Parish Community College to Merrywoods Boulevard.
Still left to finish on this $8.4 million project is the need for new asphalt on the turn lanes, median crossovers, driveway connections, roadway shoulders, and the installation of guardrail pads & guardrail replacements.
Additionally, the project will include work to install loop detectors at the traffic signals, and the application of permanent roadway striping and signage.
Motorists should expect continued intermittent lane closures while construction activities continue to move forward, and drive with caution through the area.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in late 2025, weather and other factors permitting.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
