SHREVEPORT, LA-  Shreveport police busy removing several felons off the streets in multiple arrests

Officers make arrest in aggravated flight by convicted felon

On March 29th, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Shreveport Police Patrol Officers were involved in an incident involving the aggravated flight of a motor vehicle. Officers attempted to stop a male operating a white Chevy vehicle in the 2900 block of Dupont Street.

The individual, identified as 27-year-old Demarue Jones, refused to comply with officers' commands to stop, initiating a pursuit that spanned through the adjacent neighborhood. The efforts of our dedicated officers ultimately led to the apprehension of Jones, who was operating the vehicle during the pursuit.

Further investigation found that Jones was in possession of a Firearm however he is prohibited from doing so due to being a convicted felon.

Jones now faces the following charges:

1. One count of aggravated flight from an officer

2. Possession of Schedule of two

3. Convicted felon in possession of a firearm

4. Driving under suspension

On March 30th, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Shreveport Police Patrol Officers responded to a report of an armed individual in the 3100 block of Judson Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered 28-year-old Frank Pearson, who was reportedly engaged in a dispute with a family member.

Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Pearson, a convicted felon, was unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Consequently, Pearson was promptly taken into custody and has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. No injuries were reported.

 

Welfare concern turns into felon with firearm arrest

On March 30th, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Shreveport Police Patrol Officers responded to a report of welfare concern in the 4200 block of Lakeshore Drive. Responding officers were informed that a caller from an adjacent apartment could hear a female and a male arguing. The caller stated that she heard the female say, “Put the gun down.”

Upon arrival, officers encountered 35-year-old Dwight Tyson, who was reportedly armed with a firearm. Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that Pearson, a convicted felon, was unlawfully in possession of a firearm. The firearm was also found to be stolen.

Consequently, Tyson was promptly taken into custody and has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Tyson was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm, Domestic abuse battery with Strangulation, and Domestic Abuse Battery with child endangerment.

No life-threatening injuries were reported.

We commend the swift and decisive actions of our officers in apprehending individuals who pose a threat to public safety.

We must state that suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
