What began as a popular farmers market stall known as SoBo Coffee quickly grew into a beloved brick-and-mortar staple in Benton.

After opening their physical storefront, SoBo rebranded as Sweetfern, expanding their footprint to offer cozy meeting spaces, a charming lobby vendor market, and delicious breakfast options for local commuters. Unfortunately, that chapter has officially come to an end for the small business.

The owners recently took to social media to announce the sudden closure of their operations, reflecting on their journey and sharing a heartfelt goodbye with their loyal customers:

"A Farewell from Sweetfern

After four and a half years of serving our community, Sweetfern has officially closed its doors. There are many factors that led to this decision, but ultimately, we feel that continuing is no longer in our best interest. We've poured so much of ourselves into this business, and while it's bittersweet to say goodbye, we're tired and ready to see what life has in store for us next."

As they pack up their space, the owners of Sweetfern, Leslie and Taylor also shared an urgent request regarding upcoming event bookings. During their move, the calendar containing reservations for the popular Latte Room, including several upcoming holiday parties, was unfortunately lost. Because they no longer have access to contact details for those parties, they are asking the community to help spread the word so affected groups have adequate time to make alternative arrangements.

While saying goodbye to a local favorite is never easy, neighboring mom-and-pop coffee shops stand ready to welcome displaced regulars. Spots like XO Coffee off Airline Drive and Coffee on the Red on Benton Road are just a short drive down the road. Let’s keep showing up and supporting our local independent businesses as they navigate these seasonal transitions.
