Shreveport Weather Alert: Slight Risk of Severe Storms
Living here in Northwest Louisiana my entire life, I knew it was just too hot!

Driving in to work around 3:00 am this morning, I glanced at the thermometer in my truck and it showed 81 degrees. That's when I knew that we were in for some potentially dangerous weather. Too hot, too early in the morning spells danger.
Once into the radio station, I checked The Weather Channel which listed the current temperature at 79, but still much too warm.
Then, after looking at the National Weather Service in Shreveport's website, my suspicions of bad weather came to fruition.
Yes, Shreveport and the rest of the Arklatex area were at risk of some potentially damaging weather late this evening.
Listing our Threat Level at 2 of 5, which is a "Slight Risk" the National Weather Service advised that the threat for scattered severe thunderstorms exists late this afternoon (Friday) into this evening and again tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon and night across mainly the northern half of the area.
According to their forecast, damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornado or two, and locally heavy rainfall are the main threats.
As the NWS map above indicates, rain chances return to portions of the Arklatex late this afternoon into the evening/overnight hours tonight with the highest chances mainly near and north of the I-20 Corridor.
At this time no Watches or Warnings have been issued, but you certainly need to be aware of the severe weather potential for this evening and tomorrow evening and check back here for any updates as we receive them.
