Sci-Port Discovery Center in Shreveport Announcing Brief Fall Closure
If you are an Ark-La-Tex parent who refuses to melt in the heat, you probably already know and love the absolute sanctuary that is Sci-Port Discovery Center. It is the ultimate indoor escape for family fun, but you will want to check your calendar before heading downtown soon. Sci-Port just dropped an important heads-up for local families: they are temporarily closing their doors for a few days this fall.
Don't fret, the shutdown isn't permanent! The team took to social media to share the details:
"Sept 28 - Oct 2: It’s almost that time of year again! We’ll be temporarily closing our doors September 28–October 2 as we take time to deep clean, reorganize, make improvements, and prepare some exciting new additions around the center.
We’ll reopen on Saturday, October 3, ready for more discoveries, adventures, and STEM fun! There’s still plenty of time to visit before then, but we wanted to give you a heads up so you can plan your next trip to Sci-Port!"
If you haven't experienced Sci-Port yet, you need to change that as soon as possible. Located along the downtown riverfront in Shreveport, this massive 92,000-square-foot facility is packed with over 200 hands-on exhibits, live science demonstrations, and the interactive Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium.
Younger kiddos will love Power of Play (PoP), a dedicated children's museum for ages eight and under featuring kid-sized versions of a local cafe, bank, farm, and dentist office. Older kids and adults can tackle the Gallery of Intrigue, an open-air mystery room packed with historical puzzles, or catch an immersive movie inside the Goodman IMAX Dome Theatre.
